Jim is retired from the Cumberland Valley School District where he taught Health and Physical Education. He received a Bachelor of Science Degree from Penn State University, Master in Education Administration and Principal Certification from Temple University, and a Supervisory of HPE from McDaniel College. Over the length of his career he taught all levels of HPE, K-12th grade. He served as an Assistant High School Principal and acting Middle School Assistant Principal. Then he completed his career as Supervisor of Health, Physical Education and Aquatics while also serving as the Alternative Education Principal.

Jim also coached soccer and wrestling at CV. Over a period of twenty-two years he coached wrestling at all levels including Junior High, Junior Varsity and as the head Varsity Coach. As the CV Varsity wrestling coach, Jim was awarded the District III AAA Coach of the Year in 1993.

He coached soccer at CV, starting the team in 1973 and continuing to coach for twenty-seven years. During his tenure as soccer coach, CV teams won the only Capital Area Conference soccer title, numerous Mid-Penn titles and three District III titles. In 1997, the CV team lost on penalty kicks in the State Semi-finals to the eventual state champion. In 1992, Jim was awarded the Pennsylvania Soccer Coaches Association Coach of the year award, and in 2001 was inducted into the Pennsylvania Soccer Hall of Fame. The CV Eagle Foundation recognized Jim as the Coach of the Year in 1998. After stepping aside as a coach, Jim continued to work with the Pennsylvania Soccer Coaches Association as the chairman of the Coach of the Year Committee.

Currently Jim and his wife Jean reside in Monroe Township near Carlisle, PA where he served on the Township Recreation Board for over ten years. Jean and Jim have two daughters, Shannon and Kelly, and four grandchildren. Their time is now spent traveling between Connecticut and Florida visiting children and grandchildren.
