Whether on the court or off, Coach Ramsey, leads by example. Her commitment to excellence is shadowed only by her deep and abiding faith. Retired from a 35-year coaching career, 20 of which as head coach for the Ashland University Women’s Basketball Team, Coach is now sharing her expertise beyond the hardwood. She led the Ashland Eagles to a Division II national title in 2013, which followed on the heels of being 2012 national runner-up. That same year Coach Ramsey was named the Conference, Regional and NCAA Division 2 National Coach of the Year and inducted into Miami University’s prestigious Cradle of Coaches. This May (2018) Coach Ramsey and the 2013 National Championship team will be inducted into the highly acclaimed Ohio Basketball Hall of Fame.

Prior to Ramsey’s arrival at AU she spent eight seasons as the head coach at the Univ. of Dayton and was an assistant coach at the Univ. of Cincinnati (1984-86), Miami Univ. (1983-84) and Illinois State Univ. (1982-83). Her coaching career began at Noblesville (Ind.) H.S in 1979-82, where she twice was selected as the county coach of the year.

Coach’s resume as a player is as impressive as her coaching dossier. She played three years at Indiana University (1974-77) where she was the first woman to receive a basketball scholarship and served as a co-captain. She also played one year at Miami (1977-78), where she was a co-captain.

Coach Ramsey graduated with a bachelor’s degree in physical education from Miami in 1978 and earned her master’s degree in educational administration from Dayton in 1988.
Ramsey’s holistic approach to coaching has led to other honors including the induction into the Athletes in Action “Hall of Faith” in 2013. She has also been recognized by receiving the WBCA Carol Eckman Integrity in Coaching Award (2012) as well as the Kay Yow Heart of a Coach Award (2011).

Coach Ramsey draws upon her vast experiences and passion to motivate, inspire, and encourage others. Known for her desire to see coaches and athletes excel in all areas of their lives, she focuses on team culture and leadership.
