Priapism is a painful erection of the penis or clitoris lasting more than four hours without s*xual desire. The glans p*nis and corpus spongiosum are not affected during this period. Although uncommon in men, it can also be seen very rarely in women. There are three types of priapism: ischemic (low-flow), nonischemic, and recurrent. priapism is an urgent urological condition that must be adequately treated, as it can lead to severe penile dysfunction. This article aims to present the appropriate management of priapism in light of the current literature. We hope that future studies will contribute to elucidating the molecular mechanisms of priapism and expand our capabilities in the management of patients with this condition.
