If you were to place two athletes on a stage, side by side, and one was a junior in high school and the other was a junior in college would you see a difference physically between the two? Most people would answer YES! But does it have to be that way? If the junior in high school had decided when she was a freshman that she wanted to play at a D-I school and nothing was going to get in her way, could she physically look like a college athlete by her junior year? Of course she could. Would it be easy? NO. Would it take a lot of hard work, dedication, discipline and sacrifice? YES. So if you want to be a college athlete, especially at the D-I or D-II level then you better have a sport-specific strength and speed program to get you there.
And remember don’t get caught up working on the parts of your body that already look good. Work on the weaknesses in your physique. If you do what it takes to prepare physically then when college coaches come to evaluate you they will notice that you already look like a college athlete. They know that doesn’t happen by accident. It tells them you have worked hard and you are focused on your goals. That’s the type of athlete they want in their program. Success breeds success! These are the athletes that get recruited and ultimately receive scholarship offers. What are you waiting for?
